- The Collins Foundation
- The Ford Family Foundation
- Meyer Memorial Trust
- James F. & Marion L. Miller Foundation
- The Oregon Community Foundation
- Wendt Family Foundation (Formerly The JELD-WEN Foundation)
Created in 2004, FBO's vision is to use philanthropic collaboration to share ideas, coordinate strategies, and leverage joint resources to make an exceptional and lasting impact. Its first initiatve was to focus on K-12 public education and, thus, created Chalkboard Project. The goal was not just improving K-12 education in Oregon, but eradicating achievement inequalities, elevating student achievement, and making our public schools among the nation's best.
These six foundations found a way to work together, pooled their resources, and collaboratively fund the work of Chalkboard Project. Today, the founding foundations are joined by 27 affiliate members -- a growing list of funders who embrace the need for K-12 improvement.
FBO and Chalkboard Project are transforming education in our state and lifting up the dream of educational attainment and achievement for all Oregon students.
The board includes two representatives from the six founding foundations -- a trustee and the foundation's senior executive -- and at-large directors.
