Chalkboard's statement on equity

Monday, November 21, 2016 Sue Hildick

Chalkboard Project is focused on educational equity and working towards ensuring all Oregon students have equitable opportunity and access to educational attainment. We are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion of all people, and believe everyone should be equally valued and respected.

We respect all race, color, ethnic background, religion, gender, age, socio-economic status, sex, sexual orientation, political beliefs, affiliations, disabilities, or marital or veterans status. Discrimination and harassment in any form is unacceptable to us.

Every individual has the right to go to school and work in an environment that is free of harassment and discrimination. We acknowledge that our equity, diversity, and inclusion goals will only be achieved when we assume individual and collective responsibility for investing our ideas, energy, and resources toward a vision of achieving educational equity.

We know we cannot achieve this on our own: We will work to create partnerships with others who have demonstrated knowledge and expertise in advancing equity. We recognize that it is only through acknowledging our collective responsibility to do this work that we may achieve meaningful progress towards justice and unity.
